Doneraile Park consist of 160 hectares of parklands with mature groves of deciduous trees and a number of deer herds. Doneraile Court, a fine Georgian mansion overlooks the park and was once the home of the St.Leger family. It was here that Elizabeth St.Leger was made a Freemason in 1712, the only Irish lady to become a Freemason.

The restored water features remain the focus of the park which now also enjoys a rich variety of walks including the 5.5 km walk around the mature perimeter planting, the riverside walks, the woodland walks and walks through the deer parks. There are three species of deer – Red, Fallow and Sika, together with a herd of Irish red deer.

Many trees are now over 300 years old. Some larch trees, reputed to be among the first of this species grown in Ireland, were planted around the 1730s. Points of architectural interest include the Georgian Doneraile Court, home to the St. Ledger family until 1969, the portico gate lodge and the “Hunting Bridge”.
